A vape with a replaceable coil separates the two parts that wear out at different rates. The pod, which is just a tank with a mouthpiece, lasts months. The coil inside it, the heating element and cotton, lasts one to three weeks. On a built-in coil pod you throw both away together; here you push out the old coil, push in a new one, and the pod carries on. Over a year that is a real saving, and coils come in multipacks.

The other benefit is choice. The same Nord or Drag pod takes coils from tight MTL resistances up to sub ohm mesh, so one kit can move from a cigarette-like draw to big clouds by changing a £2 part and turning the wattage up.
